Guido Violano

Guido Violano is currently Assistant Professor in the group of Mechanical Design and Machine Construction at the Polytechnic University of Bari. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in January 2020. He has been visiting Ph.D. scholar at the ESPCI (Paris) and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Saarland (Saarbruecken). His expertise lies in numerical modeling of intricate contact problems, encompassing adhesion, friction, fracture, plasticity, viscoelasticity, and thermoelasticity. Moreover, he possesses extensive experience in experimental procedures for studying adhesion and fracture of soft matter, as well as in the measurement and characterization of surface roughness. He collaborates with international Universities as ESPCI, University of Saarland, and Imperial College. He has authored over 20 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and serves as an editor for the Tribology Section of the journal Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering.
